Newer the Linux Kernel, longer the maintainable software and product lifetime. But for devices produced and deployed in field for 15+ years with 2.6.38 Linux Kernel or earlier, doesn't have the luxury of upgrade frameworks, bleeding edge features, longer maintainability lifetime and security fixes.

This presentation shares the experiences, challenges faced and techniques used to upgrade three such devices based on ARMv4 (AT91RM9200), ARMv5 (AT91SAM9260) and PowerPC MPC8321 from 2.6.x to 5.10 SLTS. Also briefly shows the ways to create BSP using Yocto.
